The Restaurant and Catering Awards for Excellence for 2010 in WA were announced on Monday 21 June at the Grand Ballroom at the Burswood in front of over 1100 people.
The major winner was Restaurant Amusè in East Perth. They were awarded the Outstanding Restaurant for 2010. Hadleigh and Carolyn Troy, together with their staff are to be congratulated on the outstanding score that they achieved. This score should make them very competitive at the National Awards to be announced on October 25 in Melbourne. Hadleigh is a regular presenter at our cooking classes.
Galileo Buona Cucina in Shenton Park won the Best Informal Restaurant for 2010. This is just reward for the standard of food and service and particularly the value for many provided by this restaurant. Congratulations to Vincenzino Soresi and Una Hosgood for the work they are doing. |

I gave the Judges Commendation Award to Dear Friends Restaurant in Caversham. This award is usually given to a non-category winner that shows some outstanding qualities. Dear Friends has shown marked improvement in the past 12 months, scored over 16 (difficult to do in the system used) and was less than 0.1 of a point from being the category winner. To cap it off it is run by two very nice people, Keiran and Kelli Mainwaring.
