Since its opening in 1998,
Jackson’s Restaurant has
become known as an institution
in the Perth dining scene.
Located on bustling Beaufort
Street in Highgate, the
understated and sophisticated
eatery attracts an eclectic
crowd of intimate diners and
food aficionados appreciative
of chef and owner Neal
Jackson’s innovation. No
stranger to awards, Jackson’s
is the deserving winner of the
Australian Gourmet Traveller
2010 Awards in the Top
10 of Perth.
Jackson confidently blends
flavours in creative combinations
with finesse and flair. The “Dego”
(degustation) menu is wide
ranging in taste and inventiveness
and draws upon fresh seasonal
produce as its inspiration.
Those unable to contemplate
the nine-course degustation will
appreciate the a la carte menu,
which also caters well for the
vegetarian but not at the expense
of flavour or substance.
The dessert menu is a tribute to
exquisite puddings, chocolate
and cheese.
Restaurant manager Kjell Ove
Almeland is the proud winner of
the Sommelier of the Year 2010
with the Australian Gourmet
Traveller Awards. Almeland
has brought Jackson’s wine list
acclaim with his rare vintage
and aged finds. It’s highly
recommended that those opting
for the degustation menu to pay
heed to the matched wines and
premium labels. Although there
are few wines less than $60 a
bottle, there is a good selection
by the glass.
The immaculately presented
staff are on hand to help with
the all-important food and
wine selections.
The Dego costs $120 or $175
with wines and $235 with the
premium wine selections per
head. The a la carte menu
averages to about $90 per person
for a three course selection.
