Opening in 2007, Red Cabbage entered the Perth eating scene with very little fan-fare. Perhaps this is attributed to its awkward location in an office building perched above a freeway ramp. However, its not-sogrand entrance has given owners Scott and Hazel O’Sullivan and Chef Adam Sayles time to fine tune Red Cabbage into the restaurant it is today.

Chefs O’Sullivan and Sayles have a fearless approach to their food offerings and this brings an edginess to the British cuisine with the use of seasonal produce and Australian influences. Their take on steak, eggs and chips and the wild rabbit fondant are prime examples of the challenging menu. The creative flare extends into the vegetarian and dessert menus. The complimentary amusè bouche and palate cleanser further entices the taste buds.
The compact drinks list includes predominantly Western Australian wines, French champagnes, boutique beers, and a handful of cocktails. There is a good selection of wines by the glass. This list is a work in progress and greater variety can be expected. The prices are very reasonable.

The service is swift and the wait staff are friendly and helpful when required and unobtrusive otherwise.

The average cost for an entree, main and dessert is $70 per person, which is excellent value for innovative food.

Red Cabbage was voted as the best Informal Dining Restaurant by the Restaurant and Caterers Awards for Excellence for 2009.
